Real Honda engine swap onto Ariens

Title pretty much says it all. I have a guy with a couple of Honda engines (HP unknown at the moment)...I'm wondering if its worth the trouble.

I'm gonna try to find out HP and maybe some other info...I just thought if one of them is strong enough and in relatively decent shape would it be a good swap project.

Sorry for the lack of real info...I'll work on it....I just didn't want to get ahead of myself.

It's definitely possible... it depends on the specifics of the engine.

Many many years ago I swapped a Honda engine onto a first-series Ariens. The 'blower's original engine was 4 HP, the replacement was 8. Much happiness ensued.

~1994 Ariens 924084 (ST1032) "papa bear": restored, re-engined, real nice!
1991 Ariens 924050 (ST824) "mama bear"
Toro PowerCurve 1800 "baby bear"

Be alert! America needs more lerts.

Whether or not it's worth the effort would depend on which Honda engine "he" has and which engine you would be upgrading from.

Here's @IanB's thread where he installed a GX390 onto his ST1236, back in 2014

There's @legarem with his GX390-equipped Ariens 926 machine:

And here's my GX390-equipped Ariens 924040:

There are several others on youtube/google if you search for "gx390 snowblower." The GX270 (9hp) and GX340 (10.7hp) would also be good choices.

Garage
As long as you're not paying a lot for the engine and can do most or all the work yourself any swap is worth it. IMHO, Honda engine even more so.
