Question Ariens SS paddles ?

Has anyone ever tried successfully made their own replacement paddles?

Found a youtube vid made by sixtyfiveford and he made them from tire sidewall. Has anybody tried this? What materials?

i've seen the vid but i think the sidewall is too soft of a material for the job
