Three lies:

1. Its not one year old, it's 13 years old.
2. Its not professional series.
3. He absolutely did not ever pay $1,500 for it.

Points 1 and 2 could perhaps be attributed to genuine ignorance..
but point 3 is so obviously a deliberate lie that's its obvious the whole thing
is a deliberate lie.

I am looking at Toro 521's, and am asking for the S/N to look it up and get a better idea of age before I even go to look at something. I am always cynical of the truth of sellers' statements, and even have a rough 'code'- what I will start by assuming until I see evidence suggesting otherwise

Nearly new = up to 5 years old
A couple of years old = 5-10+
Not new, but.. = 10-20+
etc

Further, if it is obvious the seller is lying about some things, I become even more skeptical of everything they would say. When they say they paid $xxx, I really take that amount with a grain of salt. They often arrive at that figure using full MSRP, plus tax, plus delivery, and often will pad the price on top of all that. I always look it up and see the price for that item (or comparables) to decide for myself what something went for new.

Caveat emptor.

Come on Scott.
1. This guy just bought it 6 months ago from a guy who said he just bought it 5 months ago.
2. It's the non-professional version of the Professional series so it's just like the professional series only different with different quality parts.
3. He did pay $1,500 for it and it was a heck of a deal as the guy on Craigslist he bought it from was asking $2,700

I'll take whatever he's having.
