Does anyone travel distances to get a snowblower?

Was curious if anyone does road trips to pick up machines, or do you pretty much find them locally? The longest trip I've made to pick up a machine was Bergen NY, where I got an old Toro Power Handle and a gigantic Bolens walk behind tractor with a snowblower attachment.....that was about 7 years ago. About an hour and a half away.

And if so, what did you get?

most of the toro two stage blowers were an hour or less from home. the powershift was just over an hour from home mainly because there is no direct way to get to the guys house. you can take the expressway up but even that takes you out of the way before cutting back over his way. now if i find a toro snow hound 25 i would be willing to travel

I just did an 1.5 ride each way for a JD 1032.
So far thats the farthest ride for a snowblower.
I've driven 250 miles each way for a chainsaw.

I just reported last night, that yesterday I drove from NJ to Long Island for a Toro 3650. Something like 35 miles each way (an hour out and same back, with light traffic).

The part that stung was the $32+ in tolls from crossing major bridges- George Washington Bridge at about $11, and the Throgs Neck Bridge ($7.50 x 2), plus about $5.50 for the New Jersey Turnpike. I calculated the travel costs at about $50 plus my time, but the deal on the Toro was good enough to make it worthwhile..

I drove to Queens, N.Y. for a super nice Harley about 15 yrs ago. That was probably 5 hrs each way. Maybe even further. I've routinely driven 2 hrs. Or more to get equipment. But, it's always been worth my time. I ask lots of questions and I get lots of pics before going that far.

I went to Connecticut once for a good parts machine for my '62, was about a 6 hour round trip by the time I went into the city and back out around Long Island sound and back. I still have a lot of stuff from that unit saved in the attic and shed. Next time I'll take the ferry!
