debating if I should buy a new poulan pro 21 inch snowblower or keep the murray 21 in

had to go to menards the other evening to get parts for my murray snowblower that quit running last sunday. saw the poulan pro 21 inch snow blower they have and quite tempted to get one since it is made by Husquvera. Had to replace the primer fuel line, spark plug, fuel filter and recoil starter handle on my murray.... first time in 15 years i did anything to it and thinking that it might be time to discard it since I had to spend 2 hours doing work on it and it is only a 4.5 hp 2 cycle machine.

if the murray would have behaved its self and started last sunday i probably wouldnt even be thinking about a new snowblower but i am kinda pissed at it now since i had to spend 2 hours working on it after 15 years. also the new one is a 4 cycle 7 horse. and the murray is a 4.5 horse 2 cycle.

in the grand scheme of things what is two hours of work on a machine that you've been using for 15 years. I understand it broke down at a bad time. I went and got the powershift out of the garage after last sundays blizzard but the carb started acting up. fired up the 826 but it was leaking gas. my friend has the 521r that works ( bad auger on the other ), the 521E was at the shop for the impeller kit install. the 3650E is at mom's house and my friend down the street had the 3000E which left me with my 2450E to finish what I didn't get done with the powershift. now that's bad timing but I'm not going to buy a new toro over a few minor problems with the snowblowers at the house, each problem will be addressed and the fleet will be running as they should. the st270 has a blown motor

If I bought the new machine, I would keep the murray as a spare machine or to use if I had to help a friend of mine with his driveway. never really was a fan of tecumseh engines before but the 4.5 snow king motor doesnt seem too bad, just think that a 7 horse would only take maybe 5 minutes to clear a big snowfall rather than 10-15 minutes with the 4.5 hp

I second that, find a second machine on line(craigslist).

Garage:
MTD....2 stage(modern 8.5 HP) not my favorite
Honda HS622 TA-B - acquired at an auction- nice machine for it's size.
Toro S-140- Picked it up on trash day... it runs, sort of.
Yamaha YS 240 TB "Ricky" latest Craigslist find- on the bench now.

if a big snowfall is the issue then get a small to mid-size two stage machine and keep the murray for the small stuff
