I didn't even mention it, but some of you may have noticed the Lawn Boy DOES NOT have the engage/disengage bar on the handle. I was aware of this before I bought it. The seller actually made sure I knew it before I bid on it. He said I was correct in my guess that you just rock the machine back when starting and/or end of pass/turning. He said it wasn't there when he got it and he wanted to make sure I was aware of it. He said it was never a problem for him. From my experience with lawnmowers with blade brakes and auto shutoffs, it doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Assuming you're a guy who's comfortable with slightly goofy mechanics is this a big deal? Here's a pic of a small toro from eBay for reference. Thanks!
I think I've got a buddy to go pick it up this week or next. I'm not sure of his snow blower knowledge, but he really knows two strokes and machinery in general so I feel pretty good about it. The guy from eBay has also been very cool about holding it for me too, so I'm pretty sure no matter what happens, it'll have been worth $50.00. Thanks for all the help.
The LawnBoy was just picked up and my buddy said it's better than the eBay ad made it sound. Cranked easy first pull, runs well, and the paddles are good so I think we did pretty good for $50.00. The seller was a really good guy. He's been holding it for me for several months. Thanks everyone for the help along the way.
Both of them are still in NJ. Sadly it may be a month or a bit more before I can actually go put MY hands on both of them. Supposedly they both run really well and have minimal rust They're a little dusty and I'd rather wipe them down before I show off my wares. There's something to be said for taking pride in your tools.
