    Pete,

I started a thread on an old montgomery ward / Garden Mark gil 489a
with some pictures. except for some play in the gearbox input shaft this machine is very solid with only surface rust. All of the other bearings are in good shape. Based on what you can see in the photos do you think it is worth doing a full restoration or just bolt on the new motor and use it like it is. I can't believe these are worth very much either whole or in parts.

Recently purchased what I believe to be a 479 series. Basically the same as the 476A that I currently have but with electric start.

Question being, what is the difference between the 479A and its other letter variants?

Pete, You have probably noticed all of the Gilsons that I have found on CL that I have been posting lately. For some reason, I have been looking for Gilsons over the Ariens and Toro's of the World.
I have found a few really nice Gilsons in Wisconsin, which obviously is a lot easier to find and more for sale in that State. Is there a chance you can take a look at some of the CL ads in Wisconsin (preferably the East side of the State, like Chaboygan, Appleton, Milwaukee etc and see if any of those look like really good specimens in your professional opinion.
There is a really nice one in Plymouth that I can get for 275.00 and a really nice one in Appleton, that is listed for 275.00. There are plenty more, just those really caught my eye.
I appreciate all of your advice and answers in the forum.

    Thank you

    Art Griffin

Pete, I could not figure out how to post photo's on this forum so I send via your website email address. Hope you received the photos of my Lawn Boy St826 (model 55383). Also sent a page from the owners manual that give you accurate Lawn Boy model numbers for the 1988 year. I think 1989 Toro bought Lawn Boy and that was the end of the Use of the Gilson designed units. This just confirms what you already know and state on your website. The picture of the Lawn Boy of your site is my exact snowblower. It's in really great original condition and I bought it from the original owner.
