Auger Impeller Bearing

Hopefully someone can help me out. I was given an MTD SnowBlower, Model 31AS6LCG552.
The previous owner had bent the augers, and did not understand the concept of Grease. When I removed auger impeller bearing, I failed (and yes I know better) to mark which side of the bearing (it is a stepped bearing" faced the chute. Can someone help with the orientation (big word I know) of this bearing?
Also, is this bearing a press fit (was hard to remove) or could the shaft be scratched? I had to press it off.
Thanks in advance.

Steps should face to the rear, IIRC. Clean the Shaft with a wire wheel Sandpaper, or Emery Cloth. Bearing should be Tight, but Should Slide On. GL.
