I used the soldering method on a car window regulator that had a cable brake and so far so good.

On a lawnmower I took a nut/bolt and drilled a hole through the bolt similar to how bike brakes are set up and did it that way.

PS: new metal cable is available at Home Depot for like 27 cents per foot. You just have to cut one end to get it out of the sheath. Beats paying $20 for a new cable if trying to be cheap.

Please direct all snow blower questions to the forums and not to me with PMs.
