First time snowblower owner

The old back can't take it any more so I'm going the petroleum distillate consumption route for the driveway and sidewalks.
Bought a Snapper 3201s and a Toro 524 yesterday for a combined total of $35. I don't know what I need here in SLC so I got 2! Neither started but I cleaned the carb on the Snapper and got that running today.
Just on a lark I decided to take the muffler cover off the Snapper and peer at the piston. Very glad I did - the baffle plate was broken into four pieces and one of them had started to chew up the edge of the piston.
I just wrote a separate heads-up post on this with more details.
Looking forward to taking some advice from whoever is kind enough to respond to my inevitable questions and to giving back whenever I feel I can.
