My dad purchased the Ariens Sno-Thro ST 504 in 1979 and I kept it after he passed away in 1996 and used it until 2018 when my mom"s house was sold and I sold it to a neighbor for $ 100.00 . It is pretty good it lasted 40 years and still running strong. it is a shame that Tecumseh does not make engines anymore as my Ariens still had the original engine.
I have to agree on TEC engines. There's a lot of them out there and they've gone over 50 years in some cases. Unfortunately like so many things, they're history now. Now it's a matter of seeing what holds up over time and what doesn't.
Unfortunately it has become a disposable society and engineering has adapted to that and nothing new has near the quality or longevity they had in the old days.
