It's a "solid work house"! Is that what you get when you combine a workhorse with a brick... oh never mind. :icon_whistling:

I have to say I love old Ariens but probably wouldn't bid much more than $100 for it - it doesn't look like it's in the best of shape. You could probably do better on craigslist... especially if you wait a month or so until the threat of snow is pretty much over.

I paid 30 bucks for one that needed axle bushings and an engine. Threw a used predator on it that I picked up for 20 bucks, a new carb on the predator for 10 bucks , wheel bushings for 15 and some used snow hogs on it that I had sitting around. I also bought a toro s620 paddle for 5 bucks and did and impeller mod. I ended up with a really nice ariens 10000 series for a little over 80 bucks that will clear anything and even throw water with the impeller kit(tested it in the backyard Tuesday when we got that rain). I also bought a late model 910018 with the safer transmission engagement for 40 bucks with a spare gearbox, tractor half, and chute. I had a Honda gx200 off a power washer that had stripped sump cover bolts that I bought for 20 buck off cl, I put a used sump cover on that from a gx160 that another forum member gave me, again did wheel bushings and tires, impeller kit . There are deals to be had but that not one of them

even engine for $450 ( I think in this forum few days ago) .
The used Tecumseh for $450 was a joke..the only problem was the seller didn't know he was making a joke, and when it was pointed out to him, he turned into a raging rude nasty child..he was then banned from the forum.

$100 is an ok price for this particular Ariens, but on the high end IMO. I would say $50 to $100. Its not in great shape..the heavy sun fade on the Ariens logo on the handlebar nameplate, the chalky paint, and the rust, all say that this machine spent a lot of time (years..possibly decades) stored outdoors, uncovered, exposed to the elements..it hasn't been well cared for..its poor condition results in a low value. The same model, always garaged, better cared for and in better condition, could be worth $200 to $250.

A good running 10000 series is worth it definitely. I feel with the solid wheels it takes away from the value. Most likely those wheels are not coming off without a serious fight. I bought 6 of these in the last 3 months for $50 or less. One was for $30 with a newer 7 horsepower tecumseh ohv motor. Sometimes you find them for free. I personally would give that machine a 30-50 value. Goodluck should you decide to go with it.

i can usually get non running ones for 30 or less and they are usually the high end ones with differentials and pneumatic tires, and i always have a few spare engines on hand and a stock pile of parts. main reason i would stay away from that machine is the tires. you would probably have to do an axle swap to mount 3 lug pneumatic tires and you would still have to find tires
