I was just about finished cleaning up around 14 inches from the first March Nor-easter here in Northern NJ and was getting ready to go to Florida for a week. I was near my truck and sucked the edge of a frozen tarp into the rake. It yanked the blower to the left and wrapped itself around the bushing. It ended up bending the bucket out and pulling the rake support bushing completely out of the rake itself. I left for Florida and while I was gone another 21 inches fell. When I got back, I disassembled the bucket and removed the rakes and gears. One bolt from each rake support twisted off upon removal. Are these self-tapped when installed? I ended up drilling them out and re-tapping all the holes on the rake support bushings. This took me a couple hours since I need to get an easy out that fit.
Anyway, it was a nice day, so I pulled it apart, massaged it back together with high precision(that's sarcasm), bolted it all back together and it seems to be working fine. Both of my neighbors stopped by.
I have to say the disassembly couldn't have been any easier. Also, I did notice that gas dripped out of a vent or something when I was tipped backward so I propped it back up. Here's the entire story from my security cams in 2 minutes.
