have to replace drive disc on a 26". need help in removing and the new disc I recieved does not have a screwdriver slot for jam nut. there is slot down side of shaft. is there special tool? any help would be appreciated
Craftsman has a lot of older and newer machines, they have been making them for many years.
It would help greatly if we knew what the model number is … also, are you referring to the main drive plate that the friction disc rides against, or the actual friction disc. It is unusual that the drive plate would need replacing, as it is the friction disc that is the wear item, even then, they last a long time if properly adjusted.
model 247.88691...rubber ring came off of disc and metal part of ring put grooves in plate.
my problem is how to get plate off and ive seen a picture of a screw driver slot on bearing shaft to hold to tighten jam nut but the replace ment...656.04055 has like a keyway cutout on jam nut shaft..... special tool? or just screw driver?
i was thinking i was missing washer with cutout but if it is built into plate is even better
thank you much
