Question Single stage motor to a 2 stage machine?

I'm curious.

As I'm looking for a small Toro 2 stage chassis, something like a old 521, to put a Predator 212cc on, I'm looking at a MTD 4cycle 208cc motor from a single stage blower I have, and I'm wondering if anyone has taken a single stage motor and put it on a 2 stage machine.

I have a MTD 24" machine with a 179cc Powermore motor on it, maybe it would fit on there. Just thinking out loud, ya know, something to play with over the summer.

In my opinion, you can use a motor from pretty much any machine and use it on something totally different. As long as the shaft length and diameter are the same, you can if need be, drill new mounting holes. In the case of a single stage motor fitting a two stage, one needed modification would probably be finding a gas tank that would work since most single stage have gas tanks remotely mounted because of space limitations. Another consideration, all single stage motors have no remote throttle control capabilities.

Toro 8/24 (38080) 1989
Toro 721-QZR (38743) 2015 (Hemi Predator Power)
Toro (51984) Hand Held Blower (For the light stuff)

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

The engine configuration is a bit different on the single stage machines, but you could try to see if will work out OK. Engine mounting would be the same, but the fuel tank and exhaust configuration would probably be different than the typical motor configuration for a 2-stage machine.

You might be better off going with the Predator 212cc for the re-power.
