Ariens Deluxe 30 Re-Power Suggestions

Found a Deluxe 30 locally, with no motor. Any suggestions to economically re-power it? Its pretty cheaply priced.

Thanks for the link to the Briggs, they seem to have pretty decent prices, compared to what I was finding. It looks like they make the shaft diameter's in 2 sizes, 3/4 an 1in. I'm not sure what was originally on this machine.

Find out exactly how belts go from the parts schematic for that specific machine. You may well find the original engine had cam & crank output shafts. If this is the case and you just put pulleys from a single crankshaft engine to fit belts on the machine to line up to the pulleys........

You will have a machine that has forward & reverse backwards and travel twice as fast . Not trying to scare you, but do your homework first before just putting an engine on. If you had gotten the machine with the original motor you would know how to proceed in replacing the engine. Through the years Ariens has used both styles of output configuration. Please keep us updated, lots of friendly people here to help you with your project.

It uses just the crankshaft to drive both the auger and drive system. So that's not a problem. I'm probably going to pick it up tomorrow, they're only asking $50, and come with a cab kit.

Good deal, I would love to find one like that, have a engine looking for a blower too.

Sno-Tek Modded, 15"X-Track tires (Now has same X-Track tires but 13"x4" for better fit), 254cc engine LED light and hand warmers.
Snapper 6/22 sold but not forgotten. Was my first.
Ariens ST1027LE workhorse and going strong.
New 2017 Ariens Deluxe completely rebuilt after losing a fight with a forklift.

Its kind of strange, it appears that the used 2 different size engines on this model. 16.5hp and 14.5hp. The current model uses the 14.5hp. I just need the length of the original shaft.

thats 14.5 and 16.5 ft lbs of torque not hp

they both should be 1 inch shafts those sound like brigs motors

dont see why that matters
the lct 414 cc 20 ft lbs motor is 299 bucks will go right on that blower
you need to post the 5 digit model number for help

Those may be torque readings rather than hp readings.

The model number is 921013, the 14.5 comes in both 1in & 3/4. I can figure out the diameter, I need to order both pulley and will measure those, but length is the stumper. I picked it up. It looks like it was only used a few times, just dirty from sitting. It should clean up real nice.
