ST1032 Needs a New Engine

Hi All,

The engine on our ST1032 (Model 924084 SN 001421) just died and is a Tecumseh HMSK100 159119T. My question is not regarding repairing this engine, it has been nothing but problems its whole life, and now the crank is done, it is about a replacement engine. I have searched but I still don't see a direct replacement engine for this particular model?

The question is what is the closest "drop-in" replacement engine I can purchase? I don't want to be doing too much customization but don't mind drilling new mount holes. I just don't want to be fabricating a new belt guard or searching for the correct pulley. Buying a new belt and drilling some mount holes is one thing but beyond that I will likely just junk the machine.

I am not partial to any engine brand but do want an engine that is reliable especially in cold weather.. Any model numbers of engines you'd suggest? Any links to ST1032 repower blogs etc. with instructions would also be greatly appreciated..

Thanks!

You can repower with a used Tecumseh....a ton of them around...check with JackMels....Most of the Chinese clones will bolt on with little effort. If you get one with a 1" shaft, should be a piece of cake. Check the section of this forum about repowering.

a bit pricey, but should sit right on ( foot print/bolt spacing and shaft height are given)......chute rotation rod could be the only issue.

Is the Tec engine single shaft or dual shaft?

It would be Helpful if People Looking for Parts Would List Their Location.

Tec means Tecumseh, what is your location and budget, LCT has a 414cc with a 1”shaft and LCT is the maker of the Ariens AX series of engines on the new machines, I’ve seen a few on eBay for $260 or so. But if your in Mass Jackmels I am sure has some used Tecumseh engines for sale.

Sno-Tek Modded, 15"X-Track tires (Now has same X-Track tires but 13"x4" for better fit), 254cc engine LED light and hand warmers.
Snapper 6/22 sold but not forgotten. Was my first.
Ariens ST1027LE workhorse and going strong.
New 2017 Ariens Deluxe completely rebuilt after losing a fight with a forklift.

Harbor Freight sell the single shift (13 HP - 420 CCs) for about $325. - $350. Nice looking engine. I believe it is a 1" shaft also.
