I would love to see a step-by-step thread on how to adapt the single shaft 6.5 hp Predator to snowblowers that are designed around the two shaft Tecumseh motors.

When completed I would like to have:
  • All forward speeds
  • Reverse
  • Adjustable chute
  • Cold air shroud to operate in cold weather with snow.
I can reach down and shut the Predator off so I don't need to adapt the keyed switch.

My snow blower is a 1989 vintage Bolens 5210 R -- 21 inch 2 stage that was also sold as a Troy Bilt. Motor is a 5 hp two shaft Tecumseh. I received it for free when my neighbor, who hardly used it left fuel in it and it would not stay running so he rolled it to the curb. Cleaning the carb, replacing belts and tires and I have like new snow blower although it would be great to have 20-25% more power. A impeller kit helped tremendously with blowing the snow over 25 feet. It plows through 12-14" fresh snow with little problem.

Bill

+1 on this, will make it easier to find threads to see if we can help, or get help.

The meltdown is under way ...

There ya' go folks.. You asked for it, you got it. Let the re-powering posting begin!

JH15's thread, being the most recent re-power thread, has been moved over to the new sub-forum.

I'm pretty much retired from the forum thing, but I check in every now and then.

Feel free to move mine if you feel like it. Either way it's all good.
