Murray Repowering

So all this repowering section is kinda of interesting. My old gas blower single stage with a tecumseh snowking is done. Over revved, and the block is cracked, and bearing shards with it.

Anyways, before I decide to purchase a new one for next season, can single stage motors (2-cycle) be re-purposed with a predator from HFT? any previous successful attempts?

Welcome Murray. Hope I got the situation straight.

Are you saying you have a 2 stroke that bit the dust on a small single stage machine and you want to put on a 4 stroke HF Predator to replace it, in the 2 stroke chassis ?

If I assumed the correct question, I would say No, won't work.

Reason being is that the 2 stroke machine chassis mounts the engine differently, and at an angle. The 4 stroke engine will not operate in this position. It will be starved for oil. The newer 4 stroke single stage machines mount the engine flat level just like a two stage machine, the lower part of the chassis is different than a 2 stroke single stage chassis. The 2 stroke engine will operate slanted, they just made a curved intake so the carb would end up level to accomodate the bowl/float.

Maybe you could look for a replacement on ebay

Just an idea.. good luck with it

The meltdown is under way ...

Garage
You are likely better off just posting yours on Craigslist in case someone has a good engine and broke something else on their machine and might be able to make one good one out of two and for you to just pick up another used machine.

Make sure the windows are up before the snow plow goes by !!

Or just kick it to the curb and put it out with the trash. Someone will take it home only to find out the motor is junk. Just hope he doesn't discover the blown motor and return it to you.
