Swapped a Tecumseh 5HP with Predator 6.5 HP

The Tecumseh ran great for years, but this year it started feeling weak. Lately I could barely go through snow in 1st gear without the engine bogging down. The difference is amazing, granted my Craftsman snowblower is 22 years old, it still amazes me how much power I have now with the Predator. Ended up being $133 total, delivered to my door with a 2 year warranty.

The swap was extremely easy to do, took about 2 hours and the Predator was a direct bolt on replacement for my motor. Pulleys lined up, bolt holes lined up.

Before

Lined up the motors to make sure the crankshaft height was the same, and it's **** near identical

After

Only modification I had to make was lowering of the chute handle mount. It was hitting the side of the motor.

I was able to test it out last night, the snow plows made a nice pile near road. About 10 inches high of ice chucks and snow, in 4th gear, this thing never bogged down once. I was amazed. Powered right through it.
