could it be the auger gear

I sucked up a frozen critter the other day, thankfully he didn't make it to far in. Now the auger won't turn, the shear pins are still intact, the is tight and the impeller still turns. What's the likelihood the brass gear wasn't stripped, but maybe the pin was damaged????

Is this a universal enough of a part to get one most anywhere. I want to see if done if the small engine shops have one they can yank before I spend $80 for a new one.
