Backfire

I recently purchased a Simplicity H1730e blower. While using it for first time I noticed after blowing for a while, it begins to backfire. Any ideas on what may be happening?

The flywheel key could be sheared a bit causing the timing to be off by a little, or it could be running a bit too lean. Did you hit anything with it ?
