Thumbs down Snow Chute no longer available!

Hi Fellow Simplicity owners,

First time here and glad to find this site! I'm at a loss on this issue, I have a 9 horse simplicity blower (bought new in 2002) model #1694438. It's in excellent condition other than the teeth on the snow chute are chewed up about the last 30 degrees of turning.

Thought i'd just buy a new chute, $89.99, but it's no longer available by the manufacturer. How can simplicity not support their equipment? I can buy just about everything else and rebuild a whole new blower but the chute is N/A.

Love the machine but rethinking the brand if I have to purchase another one.

thanks,
Bill

If you have the part # you can search ebay or online vendors.

Had to do this for my machine's bottom cover.

Also many manufacturers will disco certain parts, especially if it's not prone to going bad. So if you switch makes choose wisely. Check out your local welder you can probably get a new ring put on that chute or repaired.

Make sure this is not a superseding parts number issue.

With my MTD/Troy-bilt many parts still available, but parts numbers have been changed.

This company SEEMS to have the item in stock. Part number 1720671CSM. At $125, I think I would measure your ring, inside and outside diameter and number of teeth to see if someone here has a match from a different manufacturer that would fit. It would be easy to cut off the old and weld on a replacement ring.

On Monday give JOE at STRAUSS BROTHERS in Hackensack NJ. He is one of the original Simplicity guys, he knows these machines inside out. 201-487-9265. He may know where you can dig it up. He's not much on conversation, a bit short, but he's very knowledgeable. Ask if he has any suggestions.

From my search it seems that chute and deflector assembly is still available here and there from online suppliers but is no longer being manufactured.
Maybe keeping your eyes out for a unit with a blown engine or auger case so it's going cheap might be an option. In Simplicity it looks like they used this in machines from 524 up to your 1232.
