Where does this little guy go

I took the belly pan off of my snow blower (Simplicity 860 1691023) and this guy just kind of fell out, not sure where it came from. any help would be appreciated

I do not know where it goes, but IMHO I think I know why it fell off.
One end of the spring looks broken (from excessive rust/rot), that would be why it just fell out its location.

A parts diagram may show the location for it.



It is not uncommon, I had that happen on a Yamaha, a spring just fell out when the lower service panel was remooved. In my case it was the return spring for the belt tensioner.

Also, hardware, farm and tractor stores usually have a large selection of springs to choose from.

MTD....2 stage(modern 8.5 HP) not my favorite
Honda HS622 TA-B - acquired at an auction- nice machine for it's size.
Toro S-140- Picked it up on trash day... it runs, sort of.
Yamaha YS 240 TB "Ricky" latest Craigslist find- on the bench now.
