Cub Cadet gears layingbup

My Cub Cadet snowblower ( 5 years old) will only move when I hold the levers , that usually are only used for turning ,as well as the normal main drive lever . Also no matter what gear I put it in its a fast gear, probably the highest. I've seen some you tube stuff but wondered if theres any advice before I start to open it up? Thanks.

If the gear shifter is connected by a wire it could have broken. A lot of the MTD machines these days use a thin steel wire to operate the transmission and then a stiff return spring to pull it to 6. If the wire breaks the trans just jumps to 6 from the spring.

For the turning levers I have no idea.

Please direct all snow blower questions to the forums and not to me with PMs.

The friction wheel slides on a hex shaft, if the shaft is not lubed every once in a while they will get stuck in whatever speed it was left in.
