Club Cadet SW12533L clinking noise 1st 2nd reverse gear

Hi guys just joined forum,

I have a 2014 Club Cadet SW12533L that was given to me this spring when my father in law passed away,

Used first time yesterday and noticed a clicking sound when in first and second gear also in reverse, 1st reverse gear does not do anything also.

I've had a snowblower for the last 14 years so i'm not new to them, I did do maintnace on my old one myself but it did not have the steering as this one does.

Any idea's to point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance!

Take off the bottom pan, and check the friction disk, there should be smooth rubber all the way around. The disk it touches when put into gear needs to be checked for pitting from metal on metal if the rubber is missing.

I would also make sure the nut that holds on the friction disk is tight. There is also a bearing in which it spins on and if that is bad it could, in theory any way, make some kind of a noise.

While you are in there check out the springs and tension on the cables. Lube the chain with chain lube and check all pivot points for excess play and lube.

Good Luck.

I did have a chance to open up the bottom today there were some rubber shavings from the friction disk inside; quite a bit, and i noticed that the arm that holds the friction wheel and make it change position has a lot of play in it, i can move it side to side about a inch or maybe more, this why i have it in first gear sometimes it goes to a really slow reverse.

How much play should this arm have?

Thanks again guys!

And by the way this blower has only burned like a tank or two of gas before it was given to me.

It may have been adjusted too tight and the friction disk has to much pressure against the plate. Bent arm from shifting speeds while still engaged

Well I took my snow blower to the local cub cadet dealer here in fort erie canada, Paternak's, turns out there was a bent linkage and a bunch of small adjustments, works like a charm!!

Bob there is a great guy, loaded up some spare belts and plug and also a cool LED light from club cadet, still a bit of tweeking to do to light its a perfect fit but was all plug and play very easy to install.

there is some info on ebay, google club cadet led bar, cant post links or photo's yet
