ariens 5/24 just died, no spark

its an older 70s unit. Was running fine the other day, and part of today. Fired right up on 2nd pull. Halfway down the driveway and it just died, almost like the kill switch had be turned on. I thought it was gas at first and tried to get it going after a fill up but nothing at all. Pulled the plug and not getting any spark.

I have a kill switch, impeller switch and some other wires that cut spark if not engaged properly. I assume if the switches are active they ground out the ignition and stop spark so I disconnected all the lines from the engine block to prevent this but still no spark.

Any other ideas?

Check continuity of the coil with an ohm meter. One end in the plug end and the other where the ground wire for the shutoff goes. If its open, its the coil. Otherwise you will have to check the ignition points.A bad condenser can cause the same symptoms
