Pull cord on Tecumseh not functioning properly

The pull cord on my Tecumseh is recoiling itself properly with the coil but when I pull on it it does not make the engine turn.

Took it apart and the litlle metal tab that makes the engine turn fell off along with the little coil.

Can anyone help me out, I don't know how to install it back

Thanks

Youll have to match the right one but for $15-$20 you can get a replacement that works well off ebay, I have used many and all have worked.

I second ebay; had it happen to another small engine and replacement worked well and easier than dealing with a spring that flies out

If the spring housing is plastic its easier to buy new (ebay).

I'll echo what others have said about the housing cracking. I've had that happen once and you're better off getting another whole recoil assembly on eBay. If the starter dog just broke off though, they only cost a few dollars and you can just replace that.
