Briggs 8HP

I'm having issues with a Briggs engine on a monstrous toro 32. The engine is model 190402. I rebuild the carb and the engine ran fine. I didn't use it for a week and I tried to start it but it wouldn't start. I checked the obvious things spark, compression all fine. I don't know what to do finally I decide to drain the carb. To my surprise the gas went bad and was all yellow. I have never seen gas go bad that fast. I put fresh gas in and the engine started. Has anyone ever had this before? Thanks for any help.

Very strange... How old was the gas to begin with? Was it stabilized?

Whats crazy, is shelf life for gas is like 3 months or somthing now. Adding stabil may add another 2-3 months shelf life.

Garage
When you pulled the carb did you drain the tank ?? If so, the gas you put back in must have been old stuff..

Any chance water may have found its way in there? Glad you fixed it!

I suspect residual fuel gone bad or dried residue. The new fuel may have dissolved some residue and brought it into suspension.

The fuel did not dramatically change on it's own in a week.

I thought I cleaned it well. It seems to run well now. If this happens again I will clean the carb again. Thanks for the advice.
