Predator 212cc Carburetor

Does anybody here have a Predator 212cc carburetor that has surging at full throttle and / or under load??

I've never had that issue but read several have, researched and found that no adjustable main jets are available. Even searched all the racing sites for carts & minibikes, found nothing.
I decided to give it a go as i like to tinker with stuff, i have modified one and would like to swap parts with somebody that can give me real feedback and be able to show this modification works. When installed you should have adjustability of main jet like our Tecumseh's and Briggs.

It will just be removing the bowl, removing the main jet, installing the new modified main jet, installing the new bowl bolt, then carefully installing the new needle to bottom it out, then adjust to see how it performs under load running conditions.

I need somebody that has the experience & confidence to give me honest feedback, be able to make needle adjustments to dial in and make sure this modification works. I don't feel that the emulsion tube needs to be replaced with a bigger one, but we will only know after using this adjustable main jet under real working conditions.
Thanks for your time & help in this experiment.

Guess i didnt search properly !!!
Similar idea, they are not swapping the emulsion tube either. Guess what i made will work. For $10 its not almost worth the time to make your own !! Ill have to sharpen my searching skills. Kinda weird the forums i read said nothing available.

Thanks guys for the pm's with info and links.

I ended up taking a low speed idle needle from a 7HP tecumseh carburetor, drilled & tapped bowl bolt, drilled out main jet with #55 drill bit ( .052 ) , then assembled. Came out ok, but you can buy them for $10 with free shipping on ebay... easier for most people to just buy one.

GMorning Shaw, That's a sweet looking piece of craftsmanship there!!! Looks better than the unit on eBay for sure. You cutting them up on a lathe or drill press? I haven't tried to make one yet, although the same thought crossed my mind. I have quite a few old carbs for the bowl nuts and leftover needle jets from the Tecumseh rebuild kits. But so far, I've had luck drilling out the mains with a pin vise and tip cleaner drill bits from AIRCO. I've used the .035 bit for just about all of them so far(OR for the ones I've kept notes on....the first few was trial and error and didn't keep notes). IDK if you've visited this site yet,

AGK - How To Drill the Main Jets - Affordable Go Karts

But they are really into modifying the Knock-off engines, have a lot of info and how-to's on the site. Keep up the good work. Jay
