Honda hs828 Auger Cable failure

10 year old blower has been working great today, then
Auger lever/cable failed to engage auger (spins at about 10 RPM!)
It sounds like it tries to engage when the lever is held down... cable appears intact.

What are the adjustments available?

Is there a belt or another connection inside the auger control housing that I can check and repair?

Thank you,
Rick

Are both the auger and impeller operating in slower motion, or just the auger ? If both, then maybe the idler pulley, that tightens up the belt's tension when lever is engaged, may have slipped ot loosened up. If just the auger, then maybe the sheer bolts may have snapped, or worse ca$e, the gearbox may have failed - big buck$.

what rit33 said. check easiest first. shear bolts.

828 was built between 1992-98

take belt cover off. it's between motor and chute. held on by 4 10mm bolts, to inspect belts. then you can see if belt is broken and/or check cable and pully operation.

Both are operating in slow motion and the shear bolts are all intact.
Thank you for the advice!

I will remove the belt cover today and inspect pully and belt operation...
Thank you very much!
