CCR2000/3000 Left Cover Repair

I have a CCR2000 in which the metal cover needs repair. Does anyone have any idea? Weld? Replace with plastic?

Are you unable or unwilling to order a new side plate for it?

Any good sheet metal shop can make a new one for you and all you need to do is paint it black.
You will lose the belt installation sticker though unless you can ask a local automobile shop if they could spray some
sticker release agent on it and then attach it to the new side side plate.

I'm guessing that small slot was carved by the outer edge of the rotor drive pulley.
With the stamped compound curves fabricating a new one would not be easy (cheap).
There is obviously not much room for a repair since we know how close the pulley gets.
If it were mine? I'd probably not worry about it, to be honest but a small strip of speed tape would allow me to sleep at night.
Epoxy? Tape? We must be a bunch of hacks.
