John deere 826 question

Is the left wheel supposed to stick out an inch further than the right? Just picked up this 1980's version (black handle bars and short chute) for a song on craigslist and am trying to sort it out. The big wing nut is missing from the hub and was replaced with a regular nut and cotter pin. Anyone have one of these?

Why yes I do. I'm almost positive it shouldn't be sticking out and that the assembly on the left side isn't assembled or seated properly.

This might help and I'll go out and take a look at mine later.

Make sure the windows are up before the snow plow goes by !!
