Snowblower will not go unless steering levers are pulled

Have a 2006 Craftsman 31AE5HTG799 that's been great until this year.

It will not roll freely any longer unless the power steering levers are pulled. When they aren't pulled, you get a gear lock sound at the drive wheels. When it is running, you engage the drive and it will still not move, as if it is trying to move but the steering "gears" are locked and it is stuck. With the drive engaged and you pull the steering levers, hang on to your hat, the left wheel goes FAST as if it's locked and you gotta run to keep up with it. Right wheel seems to work normal.

I took it apart and it appears the left axle is frozen and stuck. Looks like part 918-04322A, Drive Shaft Assembly is what I need. Do these symptoms point to this part? Any other thoughts or ideas? Thing runs like a top otherwise.

Any help is appreciated.

Steve
