snowblower wants to die after running for a few minutes

hi all, my 5hp 2 stage snowblower seems to want to die after running for a few minutes or if if i put it in a higher gear, when it starts to die i let off the auger and drive and it will idle back up and run. anyuone had this happen before?

sounds like it's leaning out. check the cap vent hole for mud dubber's plugging up the vent. make sure you have good gas flow into the carb, could have a bad fuel hose reduced inside, make sure the float is fully falling to allow the bowl to fill up.

Same as 33 Woodie - Clogged gas cap keep gas cap off or test with Saran wrap with a hole in it, clogged fuel line, float inlet valve remove bowl and see how much is draining, water in gas drain fuel bowl, dirty carb.

Does it keep running on any of the choke settings? Or only die when at no choke?

I would feel like I'm ready to die after shoveling for a few minutes. So, you tell that snow blower to shape-up and earn its keep.



what you described sounds like a fuel related problem, most likely too lean, which is often caused by that carburetor getting gummed up during the off season.
