Snowblower Deflector won't stay in up position

I have owned my a Craftsman 1450 series snowblower for several years. I recently moved and now this winter i am noticing that when i adjust the deflector up and down it doesn't move. The cable tightens and loosens, but the deflector itself does not go up and down. I know it used to move with the adjustment. Everything seems fine, but i am wondering if perhaps something was broken of came loose during the move to my new house. Is there typically some sort of spring that would push the deflector up and down when i move the lever?

Of note, the deflector is fully in the "down" position. The cable still has tension on it. If i pull on the deflector when i have the lever fully down, i cant move the deflector. But, when i push the lever to the "up" position i can wiggle the deflector up and down freely.

Sorry jsup. I searched online for a manual (cant find mine since the move) and realized a spring did go missing. Easy fix once i get the part!

There should be a sticker on the bottom, rear, left hand side of the machine. I snap pictures of them when I get a new machine, so I have it.
