Blower not throwing snow far under heavy load - help :)

Hi everyone,

I have an Ariens Compact 24

Purchased it in 2014.

Regarlarly change the oil etc.

Update,

Took a video. Auger spins at normal speed in a few inches of snow then slows down significantly when the snow builds up within the case.

Auger belt issue?

Need replacement or tightening?

In light snow, works fine, throws snow usual distance but under heavy snow or alot of light snow, it will only throw the snow a few feet. Instead of the snow blasting out of the snowblower 20 feet in the air, it only blows out a few feet.

Could the belts need replacement?

Thanks for the help everyone

Is the snow wet and heavy? If so, that will tax down most any blower. If not, you may want to check the tension on the belt. May need to adjust the cable, to have the idler pulley apply more tension to the belt, so it won't slip.

Sounds like it is time to check the auger belt adjustment as shown in your user manual. Very easy job that should be checked periodically anyway.
Have fun!

Edit: As Motor City just said.

If the engine is also slowing down, then you're likely just out of power, maybe due to the heavy snow.

But if the engine speed stays the same, but you don't throw as far, then a belt is probably slipping. In that case, follow the manual's instructions for setting the belt tension.
