How to Change belts on a MTD Snowblower
I have an MTD snowblower. Model # 316E70FOOO. Instead of wheels, it has a tracks instead of wheels. I need to change the belts and need to take the bucket off. On the wheeled version one could get I cannot get behind the track to take off the bottom bolt and thus cannot take off the bucket so I cannot change the belts. How can I take the bottom bolt off easily? How can I change the auger belts? Is there an easier way to do this?
Many MTD blowers produced throughout the 80s and 90s were accompanied with manuals that instructed the user to separate the bucket from the frame to change the belts. Bullocks! Tip the machine on it's nose, remove the belt cover and bottom panel and start changing belts. I'd wager a healthy box of wobbly pops that you can get the belts off/on without pulling the bucket off. It's typically a tight fit but can usually be accomplished with a minimum of verbal persuasion and in a lot less time than having to remove the bucket.
