Rebuilding C950-52730 drive components
I just finished replacing the Jackshaft and friction disc hex shaft on a Craftsman C950-52730.
I found it interesting that the jackshaft and the hex shaft sprockets were for a #41 chain, the machine called for #42 chain.
I did find that when I replaced the chain with new chain (I used #41) I had to realign the outer Jackshaft mount, as the original alignment was angled.
Does anyone know why the engineers may have designed it this way? Possibly to allow mass production and alignment errors?

Could be they were allowing for some slop?
I am deathly allergic to shovels!
