Broken Springs

I have a craftsman model # 247.88790. Found 2 broken springs in the bottom of the transmission pan. Does anyone have a picture of how and where they hook up to? Unable to shift into gears without them. Thank you, Dave.

You have to tilt up the machine so you can operate the controls , and see what moves, on most controls there is a spring that holds it back or forward depending on what it does. You might see a hole or two income of those spots. You should be able to look up that model # and find a parts diagram, that might help.

Parts diagram does not show where they hook up. Just want to make sure the new ones I order are in the right place.

Look for the wear marks from the springs. There will be an arm that lifts the drive plate. The cable spring and the return spring both go into the same hole. I have to go to a buddies place to replace them today.
