Ariens Deluxe 28 SHO - Unknown Spring
Hello,
I have an Ariens Deluxe 28 SHO model 921048 that I purchased last fall. It ran great all winter long, and today I changed the oil and removed the bottom cover to apply grease.
When I removed the bottom cover, a spring, a bolt, and a lock washer all fell out and I have no idea what these are for and where they came from. Does anyone recognize these parts and know where they belong? The spring is broken on one side. I didn't have any issues last time I used the snowblower several weeks ago and wouldn't have known anything was wrong if I hadn't removed the cover.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I can't get the pic to load a second time but did get a quick view and looks like the spring that attaches to the brake or I think they call it a swing plate to stop the pulley rotating when you let the lever go.
Sno-Tek Modded, 15"X-Track tires (Now has same X-Track tires but 13"x4" for better fit), 254cc engine LED light and hand warmers.
Snapper 6/22 sold but not forgotten. Was my first.
Ariens ST1027LE workhorse and going strong.
New 2017 Ariens Deluxe completely rebuilt after losing a fight with a forklift.

Yep, I went and took another look and sure enough it is the spring for the brake plate. Looks like this is the correct one: https://www.jackssmallengines.com/ja...riens/08300017
Still not sure about the bolt/washer, I'll have look around some more and see if I can figure out where it's from.
Thanks!

I’m not positive as it’s been a while since I did a rebuild on my 2017 deluxe (was in a fight with a forklift and lost lol) anyhow a new bucket and frame so swapped everything over but I think the bolt may have had the spring on it bolted in the side, will try and get a pic after work tomorrow when it’s daylight and a little warmer.

I'd get it back to the dealer and let them deal with it under warranty.
Looks to me like its part 29 or 30.

Yep, looks like the spring is part 29, thanks!
The bolt and washer came from the drive pulley, items 17 and 20 here. https://www.jackssmallengines.com/ja...nd-impeller-28
I threw some loctite on it and put it back in, hopefully no more issues.
Thanks!
