Craftsman has a lot of older and newer machines, they have been making them for many years.

It would help greatly if we knew what the model number is also, are you referring to the main drive plate that the friction disc rides against, or the actual friction disc. It is unusual that the drive plate would need replacing, as it is the friction disc that is the wear item, even then, they last a long time if properly adjusted.

model 247.88691...rubber ring came off of disc and metal part of ring put grooves in plate.
my problem is how to get plate off and ive seen a picture of a screw driver slot on bearing shaft to hold to tighten jam nut but the replace ment...656.04055 has like a keyway cutout on jam nut shaft..... special tool? or just screw driver?

Your missing one number in the model number.247.886911?. If so the stud may have a slot. Blip you may be able to blip off the nut with an impact.

Looks like the drive plate itself is attached with a flanged nut to the swing bracket an impact gun should take that off with ease.

Yes, you will have to split it. Its not that bad to do. Take pictures, before you dis-assemble, to reference how it goes back together.

Same thing light hit with the impact. The threaded stud has a flat, which holds it stationary in the plate.
