Ariens 926 drive issue

I picked up an ariens 926 for cheap off Facebook marketplace and got it running however the wheels will not roll when the machine is off. Fire it up and the gears work and it will move the machine. When not running itís almost impossible to move the blower, and it makes quite the racket down below in the drive box. Anyone had this issue before or know whatís causing it? Iím guessing it s a friction disc issue but wanted some advice. Thanks!

First thing to do is put the machine in the service position, remove the belly pan and lubricate everything in sight except the friction wheel surface and drive plate surface. Oil all bearings/bushings/axles, the hex shaft, chain, and anything that moves. Spin the wheels to work the oil in. See if that helps. Remove the wheels from the axles and grease the axles to prevent rust. Find you model number and serial number and get the owners manual from the Ariens website, it has lots maintenance/service/adjustment information.
