Craftsman 26" Snow Blower Starts fine - only on "run"

Craftsman 247.889702 - When I set the dial to "choke", prime the carburetor 3 (or more times), pull the start cord (after finding TDC), the engine will not start.

But, when I set the dial to "run" and repeat the above, it starts easily on one pull.

I don't understand what the issue could be.

It's an MTD 370 SUB engine.

Any thoughts / comments?

TIA

If it was me I would just set it on run & run it. When that stops working then I would worry about it. That probably isn't the correct thing to do but that's me. hopefully it will get you threw the winter & run great & in the spring figure it out.

I tend to agree, but I'm giving the machine to one of my sons and want to make it perfect.

I bought it with a blown motor (connecting rod went through the crankcase right below the gas tank).

Found a new MTD motor for $150 and installed it today.

Will probably take off the shroud tomorrow and see if the choke assembly is set up correctly.

Thanks for the response
