Deere 44" snowblower Idler pulley Wrong ?

So my idler pulley bearing was bad and I got a new pulley from the dealer... The original had a lip on the top side which was bigger than the bottom side.ie the circumference of one side was bigger than the other, whereas the replacement is the same both top and bottom.... The dealer said Deere had changed the design...... I have my doubts as to whether that is so...
If a wider lip at the top really is needed, will I have premature belt wear with this "non original" design, or even have the belt jump the pulley as the blade is raised and lowered ?

It would be a lot easier to understand if you posted a photo of each and maybe how it's mounted.

This one looks symmetrical and much like what the dealer sold me ...The original is the same but the upper edge has greater circumference than the lower in order to stop the belt coming off the top edge... The mounting support stub is to the bottom

My guess would be they consolidated with another part that will work in it's place. Eliminating having to stock an individual part for your application so they eliminated the original.
