Idle rod ???

So the rod that goes in the image I attached broke so I have a replacement rod but not sure what hole it goes into ,the machine is a murray 8/24 model 624808x31e

I'd also look for shiny spots in/around the different holes, as a double-check. The hole that's shiny on the inside diameter surface is likely the one you've been using.

It looks like the one hole is well worn. Might be the camera angle too but if you can see the hole is worn as it appears in the photo that's the hole the rod goes in.
