10 or 11hp??

ok soo.. the Tec on my machime.. I`ve always beleived it to be a 10HP engine... but today I needed the model and serial numbers to get a secondary fixed jet ( lost over the winter.. different story) and its an HMSK110 :O.. now.. the guy i baught it from claimed it was a 10HP engine.. but it isnt the original engine.. any way to be sure either way?? my understanding is the shaft is 1in for 11HP and 3/4in for 10HP.. or am I in the woods again?? would just be cool to know if I got more than I bargained for

If its an HMSK110 it is an 11hp and both engines 10 and 11hp would have a 1" shaft. Just remove the small plastic panel at the front of the engine and you can see the shaft size.

Snow Removal Apparatus I own:
Ariens ST1530DLE, and good ole arm powered scrapper.
The 15 HP is a new Ducar engine sold
by Princess Auto in Canada.

Suppose if he changed the engine he could have put the recoil cover from an 11 HP on a 10 HP block. Could be he bought a 10 HP shortblock and had to switch some parts from the original 11 HP onto the new engine. Most likely he didn't know what was on there though, or he was going by what the nameplate on the handlebars says.

Please direct all snow blower questions to the forums and not to me with PMs.

It they are the same block size all sorts of mayhem may have gone on. Measuring the bore and stroke are the only way to know for sure.

Frankly at the end of the day I don't know if 1 HP is going to be anything significant (10%). I think at this age condition as a more significant factor.

soo.. this isnt like a car engine which have a stampng on the block itself huh?? the guy i baught this from (almost 4 years ago now, did he mention and i forgot) is a small engine shop owner.. this was a previous customers machine.. he changed the engine (machine dates fom 84.. engine is from the 90`s (1995-1999 IF the sticker is correct..) but again.. If sticker correct, than its an 11HP engine..

this is more for my own knowledge and possible re-sale value if/when i`d part with it.. or repower another machine to sell should I repower this one... long story short.. i was just curious to know if theres another way to identify a 10 or 11HP tec snowking asides from bore and strock (unless of cours they used the same for both engines and left the HP to carb jettings...) the only thing I`ve checked on the carb is the main jet(fixed) is number 163... but is that the orignal?? who knows..
