Toro Powerlite CCR 3.25HP leaks fuel from vent

The first time I put fuel in my Toro Powerlite this year and primed it and I got fuel running out. I took the cover off and the fuel is squirting out of the small vent hole on the carb body.

Any idea what is wrong? Does the carburetor just need cleaning or replacing?

Model number is 38182. I ran it last year at the end of the season to get all the fuel out.

Thanks for any help.

Sounds like the float valve is stuck. If you're handy you can pull the bolt that holds the bowl under the carb and find the float under there.

Here's a parts diagram of the carb:
40 is the bolt, 25 is the bowl, 28 is the float, and 30 is the valve.
