sooty spark plug

2 yo used snotek - last year problem starting - added gas stab and seaform - worked ok but only used 1 time - no snow.
this year when i turn the choke to run it sputters - turn it back and its runs ok for about 30 minutes and then dies out - pulled the plug - very sooty (carbon?).
purchased new plug - same problem - fouled plug after about 30 minutes.
any thoughts?
thanks

You should try not to post double threads for the same problem

Snow Removal Apparatus I own:
Ariens ST1530DLE, and good ole arm powered scrapper.
The 15 HP is a new Ducar engine sold
by Princess Auto in Canada.

Sounds like you have a dirty carb that needs a cleaning or replacement due to needing the choke to run. But when using the choke it produces too rich of a mixture then fouls the spark plug with carbon. Clean or most easy and cheap is to replace the carb. Check around I think they are relatively inexpensive.
