Ariens repower chute control

Hey I got a free ariens that once had h60 tech engine. Like any good American I put a harbor freight 212 cc predator engine on it! The chute control linkage is hitting the engine. I've read about this but not 100% on whAt to do. This machine has the small cog that turns onto the chute that has small squares around it vs the work gear I've seen. I thought about putting washers behind the bracket but that changes how the cog mesh with chute. Then I thought MAYB a few under one side of engine just to tilt it a bit. But that seem like a bad idea.
It's a old machine thinking early 70s. Ser no 10 m6d. 052301 any ideas or pics would be great thanks
Rob

Thanks everyone, I'm going to try to get a video on here, it's not of the chute control but it's a snowblower running down the driveway by itself! Love the safety features of 1967!!!

Yup, I like to set the cruise control and hang back and let the blower do the work too!!
